Online Timer

This is a free online timer: pick a preset or type any length in hours, minutes and seconds, and it counts down to zero with an alarm when time is up. It runs in your browser, with nothing to install.

One tap for the usual lengths, or type your own

The presets cover the lengths people actually set the most — 1, 3, 5, 10, 15, 25, 30, and 60 minutes — so one tap gets you a timer for tea, a quick break, a focus block, or a class activity. Need something else? Type the hours, minutes, and seconds directly instead of clicking through a picker.

While it is running, the time left shows in the tab title as well as on the page, so you can read it from across the room even with the tab in the background. Pause and resume keep the remaining time exactly where you left it, and reset brings it back to the length you set, not to zero.

What happens when it hits zero

At zero, the default tones play from Web Audio right in the browser, synthesized rather than downloaded. The optional environment chime is the one exception — picking it downloads a small audio file, and falls back to a synthesized tone if that file cannot load.

Because the countdown is worked out from the system clock instead of ticking down on its own, a timer that spent its final minutes in a throttled background tab still ends at the right second instead of finishing late.

Send someone a timer with just a link

A timer is really just one number, so that number lives in the link — add a length to the address and you get a timer that opens already set, ready for you to press Start. That is the fastest way to hand a class, a team, or a workout buddy the exact same timer without walking them through the settings.

The timer is free, with no cap on how many you run. Your last length is remembered in your browser, so it opens right where you left it, and nothing is sent anywhere else. Once you need to turn tracked time into hours worked and pay, that is what the hours calculator and the timesheet are for.

Questions and answers

Will the timer still go off if I switch tabs?

Yes. The end time is worked out from the system clock, so a throttled background tab does not push it back. Sound does need the tab to have been tapped or clicked once first — starting the timer already counts.

Can I set a timer for more than an hour?

Yes. Type any combination of hours, minutes, and seconds you want. The presets stop at 60 minutes because that covers the usual cases, not because of a limit.

Does the timer need sound to work?

No. The countdown, the tab title, and the on-screen end state all work fine muted. The chime and the optional notification are extras, not requirements.

Ano ang pagkaiba ng timer sa countdown?

The timer counts down a length of time you set, like 25 minutes starting now. The countdown counts down to a specific date and time instead, like a deadline next month.

Is the online timer free?

Yes — no account and no usage limit. Tauvio Pass adds the finished timesheet PDF, saved history and your branding on a published countdown page, and removes the Tauvio credit from eligible exports.
