3 Minute Timer

This page loads with the timer already set to 3 minutes, so there's no dial to turn and no number to encode — just press Start, or hit the Space key, and it begins counting down right away. Once it hits zero, a short sound plays, and if you've allowed notifications, you'll get one of those too, which is handy if the tab is sitting in the background while you're doing something else.

What this timer actually keeps track of is the moment it's supposed to end, not a running count of seconds. That's why closing your laptop's lid for a minute, switching tabs, or even reloading the page doesn't throw the countdown off — it just checks the end time against your device's clock and picks up exactly where it should. Pause locks in the time left with no drift, Restart takes it back to the full 3 minutes and starts over, and Reset returns it to 3 minutes without starting.

The moment you press Start, the sound gets booked on the browser's own audio clock for exactly when the timer ends, so even a tab sitting in the background usually still sounds off on time.
