Overtime Rules in Serbia

Not every threshold on this page is fixed by national law in Serbia. The figures above are what the statute sets; where one is marked as not set nationally, the point at which overtime begins, or the rate it is paid at, comes from the employment contract, the collective agreement or sector rules instead.

The maximum working week in Serbia is 48 hours, including overtime. Averaging arrangements over a reference period are common and may change how the limit applies to any single week.

A rest break of at least 30 minutes applies once a shift exceeds 6 hours. Unpaid breaks are excluded from paid hours, which is how the hours calculator treats the break field by default.

Some hours are priced by the kind of day they fall on rather than by how many hours were worked. The rates below are statutory minimums in Serbia, and an agreement may set more. The calculator applies the daily and weekly thresholds above, not these: it cannot know which day of your week was a rest day or a holiday, so apply them yourself.

Work on a holiday is paid at not less than 2.1× the ordinary hourly rate.
