Overtime Rules in Estonia

The daily threshold is 8 hours and the weekly threshold is 40 hours. Hours worked beyond either point count as overtime and are paid at 1.5× the regular rate.

The maximum working week in Estonia is 48 hours, including overtime. Averaging arrangements over a reference period are common and may change how the limit applies to any single week.

A rest break of at least 30 minutes applies once a shift exceeds 6 hours. Unpaid breaks are excluded from paid hours, which is how the hours calculator treats the break field by default.

In Estonia the first remedy for overtime is rest rather than money: hours beyond the normal week are compensated with paid time off, and the premium rate applies only where that time off cannot be given inside the period the statute allows.

That order matters for a timesheet. Hours shown here as overtime may be settled as leave rather than as pay, so check which one applies before treating the figure as a sum owed.

Some hours are priced by the kind of day they fall on rather than by how many hours were worked. The rates below are statutory minimums in Estonia, and an agreement may set more.
