Enter a start time, an end time and an unpaid break for each day, and the work hours calculator does the arithmetic the awkward way round: minutes subtract cleanly, so 8:45 to 17:20 with a 35-minute break is 8 hours exactly, not 8.35 of anything. Each row shows its own total, and the week totals underneath as you type.

Input is forgiving on purpose. Twelve-hour times with AM and PM and twenty-four hour times both parse, and you can mix them across rows. A shift that runs past midnight is handled as an overnight shift rather than turning into a negative duration, which is the single most common thing a general-purpose time duration calculator gets wrong.

Payroll usually wants decimal hours; people usually think in hours and minutes. Both are shown, and you can switch which one leads. 7 hours 45 minutes is 7.75 decimal hours, and seeing the two side by side removes the step where a 45 gets typed into a payroll field as 0.45.

Add an hourly rate and the calculator returns gross pay for each day and for the week. Choose a country and it applies that country's daily and weekly overtime thresholds and multiplier from the overtime rules table, so hours past the threshold are paid at the higher rate rather than folded into the flat total. The thresholds are shown next to the result, with the statute they come from, so you can check the assumption rather than trust it.

Every calculation here is free: unlimited rows, unlimited recalculation, totals and pay on screen, a copy button that puts the week into your clipboard as plain text, a CSV of your own rows, and a JSON file holding everything the site keeps for you. There is no account, the numbers never leave your browser — rows are kept in local storage on your own device — and one control in the tool deletes all of it.
